Steelseries driver, James Hemsley, wins FIA Formula One title
The race was not without controversy, with the FIA ruling the car was not a Formula One car at the time of the crash.
Hemsly was fined $1,000 and banned from the sport for two years.
The sport, which was the world’s premier racing series until 2003, had already been suspended in 2006 for a total of six years.
Hemsley’s victory in his home Grand Prix at Suzuka was his fourth in a row, having won the title in 2009 and 2013.
Despite the suspension, Hemsling’s success with the Formula One series has been more than enough to make the 27-year-old an established driver.
Hemsleys winning run in Suzuka comes just weeks after he finished second in the World Endurance Championship standings last season.
F1 has a new set of regulations that will be unveiled in April 2018, which will see the sport’s regulations change from the current four-stage formula.
